When I was approached by H&M back in early July, there were 2 concerns that weighed heavy inside - the devastating disruption of COVID 19 on Anecito Panolino Elementary School in Iloilo Philippines and the livelihoods of makers in Cebu Philippines that work with us.
It has been challenging supporting them as we grapple to make sense of this new world. All of us are suffering. But for Cebu & Iloilo, I watch in helplessness as they sink into the depths of their plight. Some days it is hard to breathe.
I voiced those concerns and asked to work on 2 capsules at the same time - one for the school (Mia Series 4) and one for the makers (10 MIni Statements for H&M). Not only was H&M open and receptive to my ideas, their support was tremendous.

Born out of a shared desire for progressive, sustainable action, the WoonHung Mia Series, created by WoonHung in collaboration with Mia Watanabe, is dedicated to Filipino domestic helpers in recognition of their sacrifices in leaving their families to come to Singapore to care for ours.
WoonHung’s Natural Collection is handmade in Cebu, Philippines, and it is only fitting to give back to its people. Proceeds from the WoonHung Mia Series will fund the Anecito Panolino Elementary School in Iloilo.
To honour the unsung heroes who care for us, we return in kind by nurturing their children, and their children’s children. Their welfare is our collective responsibility.
